Trump vows to bar Gaza refugees, expand Muslim travel ban, if elected

Washington DC, United States: Former US President Donald Trump announced that if he is elected for the second term then he will bar the refugees from Gaza. This statement was released by him amid the war conditions between Israel and Hamas.

Additionally, he also underscored that he will expand his first-term Muslim travel ban, with immediate effect – if elected as the President in upcoming elections in 2024.

Donald Trump shared the statement while addressing his support in Iowa, according to the reports by Reuters. He outlined that immediately he will begin “ideological screening” for all the immigrants who have entered the nation. The former President also assured that he would bar the people from having an ideology similar to Hamas and other Muslim extremists.

On Monday, during the presidential campaign, Donald Trump mentioned that he would ban immigrants from nations that threaten the security of the US, including Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

Along with this, Trump recited a poem that called the immigrants as deadly snakes.

Several reports have outlined that this proposal by President Trump can result in an expansion of the controversies. Some will believe that these policies will draw alarm from immigrant rights and civil liberties activities. However, it is to be highlighted that these helped him in winning the GOP primary in 2016.

In this regard, the chair of the Democratic National Committee – Jamie Harrison, shared a statement targeting Trump’s pledge and termed them as extreme, Islamophobic. Harrison further outlined that the commitments of the former President were designed to exploit “fear and anxiety,” according to the reports by Reuters.

It is to be noted that Former President Trump has always criticized the administration of the United States for welcoming immigrants from the nations he has dubbed inferior – especially Africa and the Middle East. Meanwhile, on Monday, he underlined that during this presidential reign, the United Nations has always stood in favor of Israel and “Judeo-Christian civilization and values.”

Trump promises to strengthen the US immigration laws:

The former President also outlined that for the safety of the US and its citizens, he would drastically tighten the immigration laws with immediate effects. According to the reports by news agencies, Trump was quoted saying, “If you want to abolish the state of Israel, you’re disqualified, if you support Hamas or the ideology behind Hamas, you’re disqualified, and if you’re a communist, Marxist, or fascist, you are disqualified.”

Donald Trump’s immigration policies, which were ended by Biden as he took office:

Many of the immigration policies of the former President were challenged in court when he was the President and there are expectations that his newest pledges would also face challenges.

According to reports, the ban imposed by Donald Trump on immigrants from Muslim-majority nations was taken down by the lower courts, which was eventually upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States. However, this ban was lifted by Joe Biden after he took the job.
