Washington, United States: The Foreign Ministry of China has shared a comment related to the ongoing efforts of US and China to strengthen the diplomatic ties. The ministry emphasised that both the nations must understand the each other’s objective and strategic intention.
The statement underscored that the correct view of competitive factors in future exchanges must be taken by China and the US, according to the reports by Reuters.
The remarks were shared by the ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, during a regular press briefing when he was asked about top diplomat of China Wang Yi saying about the meeting between countries’ leaders in San Francisco Summit will not be smooth.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang was quoted saying, “Wang Yi pointed out that looking back on the tortuous course of Sino-U.S. relations since beginning of this year, the experience is worth summarising and the lessons need to be learned,” according to the reports by Reuters.

Wang Yi shared this statement while meeting the President of the US, Joe Biden and other top diplomates, during his tour to the United States in recent days. In the midst of the meet, the leaders from both the countries expectedly agreed to work together towards bilateral meeting on the sidelines of an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum Summit.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that the key priority is to follow the agreement between the leaders of China and the United States, ensuring stable relations and keeping communication lines open. Additionally, both countries have agreed to discuss matters related to the seas, arms control, and preventing the spread of weapons in the near future.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s comment on San Francisco Summit
On Sunday, Chinese Foreign Ministry remarked that the Minister Wang Yi has expressed that the “road to the San Francisco summit will not be a smooth one.” While stating the same, he pointed out on the anticipated meeting between US President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping.
The remark was made by the Minister following his tour to the US, which was one of diplomatic engagements in recent months – aimed to recover the distorted Chinese spy balloon.
However, during his talk on Saturday, Wang made it clear that the path to the summit won’t be easy, and it won’t be like travelling on “autopilot”, as per the ministry’s statement. He shared these thoughts after talking with members of the US strategic community in Washington.
In the previous month, China’s top security agency indicated that a meeting between Xi and Biden in San Francisco depends on the US showing they are genuinely committed to it.
Wang emphasised that the nations must work to “return to Bali,” the last meeting between President Biden and Xi – on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Indonesia, last November. The major discussion at the time were on Taiwan, competition and communication. “Washington and Beijing must put into practice the consensus achieved then, remove interference, overcome obstacles, enhance consensus and gather outcomes,” Wang said, according to Reuters.
